Tough choice?

This Boondocks cartoon from 7/25/04 hits the nail on the head. Why is it that so many people can name a thousand things they don’t like about Bush, and a few barely-relevant reasons for Kerry, but they still side with Bush or are undecided? People have to look at the significance of issues. The economy, war, and civil rights are important issues. Abortion, gay marriage, and other things are secondary. The bad things about Bush are far more significant than the bad things about Kerry.

More Clear Channel censorship

Clear Channel, evil corporation and a major supporter of the Republican party (was that redundant?), has moved on from censoring radio and now censors billboards. Well, just the anti-Bush ones.

Are you sure that’s your vote?

“The effort to defy Bush and bridle the law’s powers lost by 210-210, with a majority needed to prevail. The amendment appeared on its way to victory as the roll call’s normal 15-minute time limit expired, but GOP leaders kept the vote open for 23 more minutes as they persuaded about 10 Republicans who initially supported the provision to change their votes.” (link)

I see how it is. If the vote doesn’t go your way, take special measures to break protocol and convince people to change their votes.

Illegal T-shirts

At a recent speech by President Bush, “two Bush opponents, taken out of the crowd in restraints by police, said they were told they couldn’t be there because they were wearing shirts that said they opposed the president.” (link)

Too bad the article doesn’t say what was on the shirts, or whether or not this was even a legal move by the police.
